Fantastic no frills Blue-ray / media player
I bought this item from another online vendor but my review is not published for some reasons.

In any case, this is an excellent Blu-ray player if you don't need streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, etc. and WiFi internet access.

The player first caught my attention because its USB device supports H.264/MPEG-4, DIVX, AVCHD video formats, WMA, MP3 audio formats, and png, jpeg photo formats (see Owner's Manual for exact details).

The player boots up really fast in about 30 sec. Hooked up via HDMI, it has excellent pictures with surprisingly clear, open, and spacious audio. The 1080P up-scaling delivers visible image quality improvement in regular DVDs.

I have already updated the stock firmware from BD5.227.00.00.C to BD5.242.00.C. The software (firmware) update including reboot took only about 1 min once downloaded.

It would be nicer if LG will add a single button (command) for caption (subtitle) on/off and "recursive"...

Am excellent value with just a small glitch
We bought this player to complement our Vizio 42" TV that was already well-equipped with network functions (Netflix, Pandora, Amazon Prime, etc). I had been looking for a player that supported DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) or CIFS (Common Internet File System) to access media on our home server. As it turns out, DLNA is not ready for prime time (server and client need the ability to negotiate codec availability and transcode when necessary) and CIFS in a Blu-Ray player is a pipe dream. What makes this player stand out is that it plays every video format I have (AVI, H.264, DivX) plus WMA & MP3 music. Note that it will *not* play WMV files. Unlike the Vizio, it has no issues at all with JPEGs of any size/resolution.

The only issue keeping this from being a 5-star review is an intermittent USB disk issue. I've connected a USB-powered 1 TB Seagate drive to the player and most of the time it works flawlessly. FYI, the filesystem type must be either 0x0B (FAT32) or 0x06...

Great blu-ray player for price.
The Lg BD611 blu-ray player is a great low price player with not many extras. Great picture, sound, plays any disc, boots fast, and easy to hook up. The USB hook-up feature is great. I hooked up a terabyte external hard drive and play music and movies from it.

It lacks internet access, except to update the firmware.

The remote good size but lacks a subtitle button and only hooks up to 7 different TVs. I have a Panasonic not one of the TVs on the remote list.

The player is a little noisy playing a blu-ray disc, but I noticed this with other players too.
