Great Starter Set!!!
There is no sense in not being honest, for how much you end up paying, you will feel very satisfied with this product. I've been abusing this gear for about 6 months and have only run into two problems. The amp to guitar cable just stopped working. Not too big of a deal, I ended up just buying a Monster brand cable 12ft for about $18 including shipping from Amazon and have been outstandingly pleased with the quality. The only other issue has been the cheap quality of the tremelo bar as it broke off inside of my bridge. This is a much harder fix, but this is a fairly minor issue once you start picking up more techinques on how to play (visit [...] it has like 300,000 free tabs and free video lessons on how to play... the DVD provided was okay but is eclipsed by this site).
Other than that, this is a nice little guitar. The fretboard feels great (the intonation on the upper frets seem a bit off but I hear this is pretty normal anyway) and the strings given hold up well for a...

Starcaster Breakdown
I didnt use the amp or anything else it came with
Ok, I oredered this guitar without the illusion of it being a great guitar. I've played guitar for 15 years and have fallen in love with the Billy Corgan sig. strat. So I chose the Startcaster as a spring board for modifications.

When I got into the Starcaster i quickly did an assesment:
1. the low E buzzed; if you have this problem then look straight down on top of the guitar from the top of the head stock. you will see that the low E notch has been cut deeper than the rest of the strings.

2. the tuning pegs (not the key itself) are wobbly, which lead to retunes after each chord you strum

3. the bridge isnt bolted down tight; mine was loose when i took the strings off. first i noticed the bridge "slinking" off the body when i'd do a bend.

4. the tone knobs arent aligned right with the numbers on them.

5. the fret board has an extremly weird varnish on it that cause the...

Great for beginners
I just started playing guitar, so I went around looking for a good, less expensive one to buy. This one has sleek looks, plays well, and I have not had a problem yet. I would strongly recommend this guitar for anyone wanting to start playing. And though it doesn't say, it comes with the amp. You seriously can't go wrong with Fender.
